Social Media Engagement Strategies (Part 1.)



As a business owner you likely recognize the importance of not only having a strong online presence in general, but also the need to have a savvy social media game.
 
Social Media platforms including Facebook & Instagram provide fantastic opportunities to get your business out there, but also to really engage with your customers and to build up strong, loyal relationships.
 
In this 2 part blog post the marketing team at Zwift has come up with some handy yet easy to implement tips to really help you effectively engage with your customers across social media.
 
Visuals, Visuals, Visuals!
 
It’s all about capturing people’s attention with attractive, eye-catching images and videos. Make use of bright, colourful and mouth-watering photography. Optimize and brand your photos where possible. Visuals in general are very important. Mix things up and get creative.

 
 
 
 
 
 
Make It Fun 
Try to use fun, friendly, down to earth language. Make jokes (puns are good), be a bit tongue in cheek and get your customers to have a laugh, or at least crack a smile.


 



 

 
 
Aim for your content to be as engaging and interesting enough for it to be shared. If it goes viral? Even better! Create a conversation. Don’t be afraid to use emojis. Develop your own “style” or “voice”.
 
Be Personable
 
Don’t always talk about yourself or your business. Also, not all posts need to be promotions.
 
Ask questions that encourage engagement (Which one would you choose? What’s your favourite flavour?). Make use of polls. Encourage people to tag their friends.


 


 


 
Tell stories, listen and relate to people. THEN sell your product. See it as an investment in long term relationships.
 
Demonstrate your passion for what you do. Show appreciation for your staff. Show your customers the ‘personality’ of your business. Make them feel like part of the family. Show them that your venue is a fun place to be at and that you value great customer service.
 
Sharing is Caring
 
Encourage customers to post their own photos of your food. Host photo comps. Re-share customer content. Re-post positive customer reviews.
 
 
Run Contests
 
Contests in general allow you to build rapport, loyalty, and engagement with your customers and followers. Some prizes for contest winners could include: free date night dinner packages, free gift cards, or even a free event such as a Grand Final Party.
